Josef Ka
Performance, Image, Sound artist

Freispiel is the name of the residency in the Supergau, which invites artists to conquer spaces in the Supergau during the festival.
You can make connections with other artists, dock onto existing projects or seek exchange with local actors from the Lungau.

The Supergau offers you space for your own artistic research, documentation, is workshop and performance space at the same time.
Whenever spontaneous performances arise during this time, they will be announced here.

ARTIST

International performance, visual and sound artist Josef Ka combines diverse influences – from Butoh dance to film theory – with her decades of travel around the world to create bold, highly personal site-specific art.
Josef Ka’s themes range from examining the place of the human body in contemporary reality to exploring the inner body as a representative system of our human and post-human species.
Her artistic practice often actively invites the audience into a kind of private reverie, making her a deeply participatory artist who engages with both her audience and a variety of other experimental artists.
In addition to her own work, Josef Ka regularly curates a series of events and exhibitions in her underground space in Helsinki – Sauna Gallery – and teaches courses on the theory and practice of performance art. She is also the creator of WORST THEATRE and her yogic training system KA-YOGA.

FAART

The Fine Art & Architecture Residency Tamsweg – FAART for short – is an artist-in-residence initiative by Irene Prieler and Michael Wildmann. They initiated FAART in 2016 and together they invite an artist and/or architect or group of artists to work at Glanzweg 17 in Tamsweg for a period of about 2 weeks during the summer half-year. The resulting projects, which are always generated and/or influenced by the perception of the place, will be presented to the public in the middle or at the end – depending on the character of the individual works.

The content focus is the analysis, exploration, abstraction, interpretation and transformation of what is found – a synthesis of the ecology of perception. The trans- and interdisciplinary artist-in-residence program aims to promote pioneering contemporary art and architecture practices and to network across genres locally and internationally.
