A yellow nylon membrane inflates several times a day into a house-sized, temporary sculpture that can be walked on and played on. Das Gelbe vom Gau in the landscape stretches over the treetops: like a deformed sunrise, the artists Moritz Matschke and Anna Pech stage the spectacle of the inflation of a disused hot air balloon in an inconspicuous forest and meadow. The intervention is in the tradition of the artistic staging of nature. At the same time, the repetitive, inhaling and exhaling rhythm of balloon inflation creates a cultural event.

Anna Pech: Uns geht es in diesem Projekt um Symbiosen und Koexistenzen. Das trifft vermutlich für das gesamte Festival zu.

Moritz Matschke: Mir gefällt vor allem der ephemere und eigenwillige Charakter des Objekts. Durch unsere verfremdete Handhabung wird die Ballonhülle zu einem sehr willkürlichen Wesen, was gleichzeitig anzieht und abschreckt. Das Permanente ist die Ungewissheit, wie sowohl wir als auch die Besucher*innen mit der gelben Möglichkeit umgehen werden.

Moritz Matschke: Für uns ist das Gelbe vom Gau während des Festivals eine Selbstverständlichkeit, wie eine weitere aufgehende Sonne in diesen Tagen.
