Belvedere Flachgau
Architectural intervention on the roof of a gas station

With Belvedere Flachgau, Maria Kanzler and Fabian Ritzi want to create luxury for everyone – the luxury of being able to enjoy the view, to let one’s gaze roam over the landscape in peace. Belvedere Flachgau is an architectural intervention that uses existing buildings and opens up space upwards with the goal to change perception by changing the perspective. In this case this existing building is one, that does not exist on any tourist map – the roof of a gas station.

DATES
Fri May 14 – Mon, May 24: 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Sat May 22 & Sun May 23: 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

ARTISTS

Maria Kanzler and Fabian Ritzi
introduce themselves in conversation with Claus Friede

(the whole interview will soon be available for reading – here is an excerpt)

[…] “…Lucky is the one who has space inside him and can afford it. Gondola tickets are expensive, so are penthouses, and hiking requires time and leisure. Our “Belvedere” makes fewer demands and provides a moment of space in a place where no one expects it. Quick and dirty’, change of perspective at the petrol station”

Architectural intervention, participatory, but barrier-free.

Is there an alternative destination?

Yes, there is. The starting point of our project idea was also that of open access to the space above. So we will continue to strive to make as much of the view as possible accessible to as many people as possible. Sometimes we have to bow to external circumstances, but we’ll keep at it: All terraces!

…and finally, “fill it up once, please“!”[…]

RESIDENT
Bernhard Resch, Eni Tankstelle Resch and E-Tankstelle
